A Brave 8-Year-Old Facing Brain Cancer

At HP Cleaning and Support, we believe in supporting our local community, especially during challenging times. Today, we’re asking for your help for a family who needs it most.

Ellerie, an 8-year-old girl from our village, has been diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG), a rare and aggressive brain cancer. Only 30 children in the UK face this diagnosis each year. Despite the devastating news, Ellerie continues to live her life with incredible strength by attending school, cubs, and dance parties while surrounded by family and friends.

How You Can Help

Ellerie’s parents, Freya and Christian, are exploring every treatment option, including a trial abroad in Zurich. The cost for the first six months alone is £38,000, not including travel or living expenses. This family is not only fighting for Ellerie’s health but also trying to create lasting memories during this time.

Well I’m back, or at least on the road home after our coach broke down which summed up a very comical but enjoyable holiday. I will reply to all enquires by the end of the week.
Thankyou to all my staff who stepped up and worked overtime whilst I was away. Huge thankyou to lana & Chelsey who kept the show on the road managing the day to day running of the business.

Star of the month 'Phil'

Our star for this month has to be the one and only that gets away with calling me ‘Ma’am’

Phil

What can I say this guy has gone way above the call of duty this month, he’s worked every day for me, stepped in at short notice when we had a customer who’s wish was to come home for his final days.

Phil has worked to ensure the housekeeping was kept just as our customer loved it. He’s provided companionship to him and his son in the final few weeks.

Phil has then gone onto assist with the packing up of the house and assisting our customers son following our customers passing last week.

What can I say Phil we have all been so so proud of you this last month.

You could not have given more if you tried and our customer wishes were met right to the very end thanks to you.

Thanks for everything Phil you so deserve this

Skipton Rotary Charter Dinner

Charity Fundraising

I got to swap the leggings & T-shirt for a few hours last night.
We attended a lovely Black Tie event with Skipton Rotary Club. Rotary gives me another outlet to do what I love, raise money for lots of different charities both locally and nationally. Most recently Keighley Rotary have provided home start up kits to our local women’s refuge & gifts for Easter. Rotary also lead on the eradication of Polio throughout the world

If anyone fancies coming along to a taster session as my guest, drop me a message it’s such a fantastic way to get involved and make a difference to your local community and nationally. We meet once a week on a Monday!

First Aid training complete!

Last week a number of new employees completed their First Aid training with Gem Compliance.

Did you know all our staff members spend a full day on First Aid training?

We think First Aid skills are critical to ensure the safety of our clients. With so many vunerable and elderly customers using our service, you can rest assured your family member is in safe hands thanks to the training our employees undertake.

You can help our team members earn monthly bonuses by letting us know your feedback and nominations.

So we’ve had a little shake up for 2024!

Previously our staff were rewarded on a weekly basis with our star of the week scheme, but we've decided to make some changes this year and are pleased to be introducing our all new ‘Employee of the Month’ award

Every month all HP staff members will potentially be able to receive a £100 bonus for hard work and positive feedback.

HP supports the homeless this January

HP prides itself on helping the community where we can. For the last 2 years, we have helped local homeless people by supporting the work of Inn Churches.

This January, Inn Churches are welcoming homeless people to a temporary hostel they have established in Wilsden near Bradford. HP Cleaning and Support have helped set this up by donating our cleaning services to ensure that the hostel offers a clean and tidy space for it's guests.

St. Matthew’s Church on Wilsden Main Street is providing overnight accommodation for up to 12 homeless people, from 8th to 15th January 2024. The guests welcomed there have been chosen by Inn Churches, a Bradford charity. They were referred by various agencies, Social Services, the NHS, Bradford Street Angels and so on, and were vetted to ensure that the Inn Churches and St. Matthew's can meet their needs and provide what they need to make them as comfortable as possible.

The Children's Heart Surgery Fund based in Leeds is a cause close to our hearts.

This Christmas we raised money through our Christmas raffle for the Leeds based charity and were able to pass on a cheque for £500. What a way to end the year!

We could not do all we do for charity without the amazing support of you, our loyal customers. It makes us so proud to be able to support children affected by heart problems and their families. Thank you to each and everyone of you, for helping to make our job rewarding and inspiring.

Our Christmas party in 2023 complete was a belter!

Thanks to one of our customers, we enjoyed some surpise Prosecco and toasted the success of 2023 and our efforts to help support and exceed the expectations of our clients. Then we laughed and danced til late!

This month, we were proud to be recognized in the Domestic Cleaning Industry awards.

Organised by the Domestic Cleaning Business Network, these National awards recognise excellence in the industry.

This year, HP Cleaning and Support were proud to be awarded 2nd place in ‘Community Champion’ category with candidates from across the UK. This recognised our efforts in the local community and our fundraising for charities including the Children's Heart Surgery Fund.

We were also awarded 2nd Place in the Best Employer category. It's wonderful to be recognised for looking after your employees and we pride ourselves on trying to accommodate the needs of our team. For example, we aim to offer parents hours that work around school.

Today we drew out the winning ticket from our Christmas raffle, which has raised funds for a cause close to our hearts.

This Christmas HP Cleaning and Support organised a raffle to raise funds for local charity, Leeds' Children's Heart Surgery Fund, a cause that is very dear to us. Tickets cost £5 and 100% of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the CHSF. The prize was a 5.5 hour pre-Christmas deep clean courtesy of some of our highly skilled cleaning team.

One of our wonderful clients, William, was kind enough to draw the raffle and we can now announce that the winner is one of our customers in Harden, whom will be contacted directly to tell them the good news!

Merry Christmas all and we hope that our fundraising can help make things a bit more special for children and their families in need of help from the children's heart team.

Supporting veterans and the Poppy Appeal

This November, some of the HP team sold poppies at Sainsbury's in Keighley.

Rememberance weekend is an important time for my family, remembering my dad who was a veteran, as well as the many brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I feel it is important to think of all those who volunteered so I encouraged my two eldest children to take part in this year's commemeration events. Together we attended a beautiful service and they carried their grandad in their hearts.

I also wanted to help with fundraising so offered for the HP team to sell poppies and raise money for the British Legion.

Thank you to our veterans for their hard work in keeping us safe, and the many who died for our freedom.

HP Cleaning and Support has employed some new team members this autumn

Following our busiest ever summer, we realised that it was essential that we grew our team ready for the upcoming winter season. Pre-Christmas is the busiest time of year for cleaners, so be wary of those offering discounts at this time.

Facebook is great fo so many things but it can also be home to some unscrupulous people.

We have had numerous reports of a local con artist pretending to be a cleaning company and asking for 50% deposit up front for full house cleans. But they never turn up to do the work and nothing is ever polished or shined! This has been going on for years and sadly the same scam is repeated over and over.

Please make sure you get recommendations from reliable sources, namely friends and family, before paying any deposits as many of my clients and friends have been taken in by this particular woman and her family.

On the run up to Christmas 2023, HP Cleaning and Support again are raising money for the Leeds Children's Heart Surgery Fund. We did this last year and raised a whopping £600.

Networking and Fundraising with Skipton Rotary Club

This week I enjoyed Skipton Rotary’s charter ball at Coniston Hotel & Spa I wanted to share as Rotary has become a large part of my life. I’ve built up new business relationships, friendships and most of all I’ve discovered so much support for myself, family and business.

The pull to Rotary for me was the fundraising and how I could work hand in hand within Rotary to increase our charity support. I can not recommend Rotary enough and new members are always welcome.

Surprising find at a client's home!

What a week it has been for Team HP

What a week for team HP and specifically our lovely Emma!

A little back story... I, Heidi, was asked to work with one of our service users 3 years ago when her family were concerned about the amount of money being withdrawn from her bank; they were concerned that she potentially could become a victim of financial abuse. We began supporting the client and since then we have had a fantastic 3 years and her financial situation has improved significantly since we became involved.

Then recently, following de-cluttering drawers in a bedroom, Emma, one of our fabulous team, found £3000 in old bank notes!

Turns out that the money had been hidden some time years before and the location forgotten. The family had searched the house repeatedly from top to bottom but no joy and had concluded the money had sadly disappeared.

So this was amazing news and one of our service user now has £3000 in her bank that had been written off. This is all thanks to one of the HP team.

£3000 is a life changing amount of money for this customer and will allow her to enhance her home with new carpets and she can treat herself to some luxuries. The family are over the moon and as a team we are super proud of Emma and her commitment to Team HP and our clients.

A huge thank you to Emma from us all for your professionalism and commitment to our business and your honesty and care for our client. She was rewarded with a beautiful bunch of flowers.

HP Cleaning and Support raise money for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund

Heidi Pattison of HP Cleaning and Support is passionate about raising money for the CHSF as she explains. ·

"After my son was born I struggled to return to my ‘employed’ role. I decided life was too short and it was time for a new challenge. I starte d HP Cleaning & Suppo rt - housekeeping for busy families and specialising in being dementia friendly."

"As the business grew I decided it was time to give back to the charity that had supported my family through so much. We’ve had a long journey - from my daughters heart surgery at 6 days old to the loss of my son ‘Ted’ at 6 days old. Then all the care and support that was given to me when I was pregnant with ‘Sonny’."

"For every new regular customer that signs up to our cleaning/housekeeping package we donate 10% of their first payment to CHSF. We housekeep for lots of busy professionals and have become well known for all our charity work. We are constantly fundraising for different charities but my is always with CHSF."

Thanks to this fundraising Heidi was recently able to pass on a cheque for £600 to this worthwhile charity thanks to the hard work of her team and the generosity of HP's clients. And they hope to raise more in the future!

Helping those that are less fortunate

This week we wanted to give a huge shout out to our lovely Jemma; Jemma is a senior member of the HP team who receently gave up some of her own time to clean for an Inn Churches shelter in Bradford.

Inn Churches runs a shelter at St. Matthews church in Wilsden with capacity for a number of guests from the city. The guests are collected by minibus and brought to the church where they are greeted, allocated sleeping facilities and provided with a hot meal. The following morning, they are given breakfast and taken back into the city, with the option to do the same again the next evening.

We are so proud to call Jemma one of our team and we know she will always go above and beyond for anyone including our clients and less fortunate members of our local community.
